Slovak for Foreigners

This course is aimed at foreigners whose mother tongue is not a Slavonic language and cannot speak Slovak at all. The objective of the course is to provide basic language skills, especially in communication. The participants of this course who meet certain conditions (succesful passing of tests and 70% attendance), will be given valid certificates for the succesful completion of the course. The group is made up of a maximum of 8 people!

The Slovak language, or Slovak, belongs to Indo-European languages, to the group of Slavic languages, sub-group of West-Slavic languages. Slovak has its origin in Old-Slavic languages. It was developed as one of the Slavic languages. The modern literary Slovak was codified in 1843. Slovak is spoken by 5 379 000 Slovak inhabitants. About 4 614 000 of them declare their Slovak nationality. Apart from these, about 2 656 000 people in 24 countries declare their Slovak nationality or claim their Slovak origin. Most of them in the US - 1 900 000 people, in the Czech Republic 315 000, in Hungary 110 000, in the former Yugoslavia 64 000 and in Romania about 21 000 people.


 
Slovak for Foreigners

This is a year-long course aimed at foreigners whose mother tongue is a non-Slavonic language and who do not speak Slovak at all. The aim of the course is to obtain basic language skills while the accent is put on communication. The group has a maximum of 8 people. In the case of a homogenous group, courses at higher language levels are offered as well.

Schedule: 9.20 - 12.05 / wednesday / 3 lessons.

Fee: 249€ / incl. literature / 1 semester.

Slovak in a Flash

This is a short Slovak course for foreigners who have come to our country and want to know elementary phrases. During the three days of flash, intensive tuition, participants learn elementary vocabulary and phraseology used in everyday situations, such as making social contacts (greeting, introducing), shopping, going to the doctor´s, eating at the restaurant, travelling on a means of transport and orienting oneself in town. The group has a maximum of 8 persons. The lessons are taught in a playful way and are not focused on grammar because of time constraints.

ECL Exams in Slovak for Foreigners

These are intended for foreign nationals who need certification of their language knowledge of Slovak for the purposes of their permanent residence or obtaining Slovak citizenship. Testing takes place every other Tuesday (odd week) at 1 p.m. (excluding school and bank holidays). The first testing in the 2006/2007 school year takes place on 11. September 2007.
